72 Hour Film Challenge (2018)

NIGHT OF THE BROTHER'S KEEP (2018)

This is not a good film....this is a great film.

First and foremost thanks to my brothers, Rodney and Richard for always holding it down. This was dedicated to you.

Donald Glover's Atlanta episode made me rewrite this 4 min experiment at least 4x...at least I thought he did. That episode is amazing and I'm not Donald Glover.

Shoutout to Rustin Dwyer too, big-time players make big-time plays. (I called him the night before the shoot and he was clutch)

72 - Hour Film Challenge Must Haves:
- "cut to the chase" (line of dialogue)
- a sign with something written or printed on it
- a dream
- recycling

HUGE special thank you for Rae and Ry for helping me out while in panic mode, Bun on backup cam, and Silong for the lights.

I tried 4 new things:
1) Music - worked with local artist "Goblin ii" on the music henceforth this will be a staple artist working with Robin's Nest
2) Smoke/Lighting - I wanted horror elements both 70s Italian/80s cheap horror and I think I got what I wanted.
3) Lightning machine - this sucked on many levels, returning back to Amazon.
4) Comedy....it feels good making people laugh. (and I told everyone while I was in the bed filming  what the biggest laugh would be, called it.)

Some Quote(s) During the Project:

"You gotta have vision Willie"  -  Bell (Roger Robinson) Willie Dynamite
"wherever you go, there you are" - Confuscious

This was not specifically shot in a way to integrate the audience into my worldview. This was not color graded and none of the 50-something sound effects I mapped out made it into the cut. This is not a good film. This was my favorite f**king film I've made to date. It was made with love, it's genuine, and has managed to leave an aftertaste of appreciation that my soul's tastebuds have long forgotten. I owe a lot of people my appreciation. Since you're reading this you're probably one of them so thank you too. Many more films to come.

If you get a chance to see any of the other films do, they're well made this year. My personal favorite "Poop Dreams" was amazing. There was also a music video I think called "Oh No"....damn that fantastic. They're gonna be famous.

Enjoy or don't idc.
